Festive cheer as crowds gather for Loughrea Christmas lights switch-on

The Christmas countdown has officially begun in Loughrea with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights on Saturday evening, 19 November.

Santa arrived at Main Street, Loughrea, with Loughrea Fire Service to count down and switch on the 2022 Loughrea Christmas lights. Loughrea Community Radio’s Dave Gardiner chatted to Santa Claus on his arrival. Santa had a flew words of advice for all the girls and boys, lead a festive song and officially switched-on the Loughrea Community Lights to welcome in the festive season.

Loughrea Community Lights announced that ‘Lights this year will be switched, with extras being revealed over the remainder of the month, this will include:

Main Street/Bride Street/Dunkellin Street; Fair Green Tree and display; Barrack Street; The Walks; Cottage Hill; Dublin Road; Gort Road; Corry’s Field; Long Point; Garrybreeda and much more!
