Over €68,000 boost for Loughrea Rugby Club under Sports Capital and Equipment Programme announcement
On Friday, 11 February, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht and Sport, Jack Chambers, announced an overall package of €150 million in new capital grants under the 2022 Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP). Amount the successful applicants are Loughrea RFC, who were awarded €68,523 for the erection of full match floodlights for which planning permission has been granted.
Posting on their Facebook page, Sean Moylan, Honorary President of Loughrea RFC said, ‘This is fantastic news for our club and I want to thank the committee and in particular those who worked on the grant application for their efforts. We plan to commence work on this project as soon as possible, with the goal of having floodlit matches next season.’
