Glanua donates to Loughrea and Cappataggle Hurling Clubs ahead of Sunday’s County Senior Hurling Final

Glanua donates to Loughrea and Cappataggle Hurling Clubs ahead of Sunday’s County Senior Hurling Final

As Galway prepares for this Sunday’s County Senior Hurling Final between Loughrea and Cappataggle, Loughrea based water and wastewater engineering company, Glanua is delighted to announce a donation of €1,500 to each club in support of this senior hurling showdown.

Glanua’s support is rooted in our firm ties to both parishes. Our Group Headquarters is located in Loughrea, while Cappataggle holds a special place in our history as one of the first water treatment plants to enter a long-term Operations and Maintenance contract as part of the Galway Group Water Scheme (GWS) Bundle.

In the lead-up to the match, Group Managing Director, Karl Zimmerer paid a visit to both camps, ahead of the game this Sunday, November 10th at Kenny Park in Athenry. At Loughrea Hurling Club, Karl was welcomed by Manager, Tommy Kelly and Captain Ian “Ducky” Hanrahan

Meanwhile, at Cappataggle’s water treatment plant, Cappataggle Chairperson Tony Nevin, Manager Padraic McHugh, and player, Cian Stankard with Fiona Stankard and Glanua staff, Hannah Campbell, Peter Gaynor and Stephen Keary had a warm welcome and decorative display in the Cappy colours.

There is a healthy rivalry among employees here in Loughrea where Ann Mahony, a proud Loughrea native and supporter, faces a strong Cappataggle contingent in Hannah Campbell, Kenneth Kearns, Ava O’Brien, and Cathy Skehill.

All roads in East Galway will lead to Athenry this Sunday for what promises to be a fantastic game.

Glanua is delighted to support both these communities in their efforts to promote fantastic community spirit and GAA in their respective parishes – something both Glanua and the GAA is founded upon! We wish them the very best of luck!
