Ask the Archaeologist event at Loughrea Library

Ever wondered the difference between archaeology, anthropology, history, geology and palaentology? Meet Galway County Community Archaeologist and discover archaeological replica artefacts on loan from Oughterard Heritage. Discover what tools and artefacts have been discovered during excavations. When is a stone not just a stone? How was flour made long ago? Re-create your very own monument! The event takes place at Loughrea Library on Saturday, 24 August, from 11am – 12:45pm. No booking required.

Brendan Hodgers recreated a multitude of archaeological artefacts and replica monuments for his friend Bill Daly, Oughterard Heritage. These replicas connect adults and children to a shared past and brings alive an experience and understanding of our past societies.
