As Ireland braces for a Status Yellow – Low Temperature/Ice warning from Met Éireann, Loughrea Community would like to remind residents about the Salt Bin located at Station Road Car Park. This time last year, the bin proved invaluable, particularly in helping to prevent falls and injuries by enabling local residents to salt the driveways of vulnerable individuals in the area.

Met Éireann’s weather warning predicts very cold conditions with widespread frost and icy stretches, which could lead to hazardous conditions on roads and paths, along with potential travel disruption.

The Salt Bin is regularly replenished by Galway County Council staff, ensuring that the community has access to the essential resources needed to stay safe during adverse weather conditions. The local council’s continued support is greatly appreciated, as it has made a significant difference in the safety and well-being of many residents.
