Loughrea Post Office Building Up for Sale

The Loughrea Post Office building, located at 57 Main Street, Loughrea (H62 XD57), has officially been placed on the market with an asking price of €275,000. The sale is being managed by estate agent Cushman & Wakefield, who have confirmed that the current tenant, An Post, will not be affected by the sale, with a a current passing rent of €13,052 per annum.

Other properties listed for sale include the Athenry and Tuam Post Offices. According to the Irish Examiner, An Post stated, the sale of these properties ‘will ensure continuity of trade in these locations while at the same time providing a significant development opportunity in each town.

Cushman & Wakefield describes the Loughrea Post Office building as a mixed-use property, which presents a unique investment opportunity in the heart of Loughrea town.

On their website, Cushman & Wakefield state: ‘The ground floor An Post has direct access from Main Street and to the rear of the trading store there is a sorting office, staff canteen, WC facilities and storage. The first-floor & second-floor accommodation are accessed from a stairwell just off the retail unit and from a door on the side laneway to the rear yard.

The sale is part of An Post’s efforts to divest selected properties from its portfolio while maintaining postal services in these locations.
