Cllr Michael “Moegie” Maher declared Cathaoirleach of the County of Galway

On Friday, 17 June, at the Galway County Council meeting, Cllr. Michael “Moegie” Maher was declared Cathaoirleach of the County of Galway for 2022/23.

Congratulating his colleague and good friend, TD for the Galway East constituency, Ciaran Cannon, posted on his Facebook page:

‘This is a fitting tribute to an excellent and hardworking public representative who does powerful work in making our local communities stronger and safer. I know from talking to him last night that he has some fantastic ideas on how to improve those communities even more, and in particular his beloved Loughrea. He will use the next 12 months as Cathaoirleach for all of our benefit.’
